It’s a new year and we all have new resolutions on becoming a better version of ourselves. I have so much to catch you guys up on. I know it’s been a minute now since I decided to post anything, but I will do better.
My schedule has previously been full. So, let’s talk about it. What it was like working 3 jobs while being a mom. And yes, you saw that right, 3 jobs. I know when I have a goal in mind, I tend to overdo it on my part, sometimes. This is the year of me doing better on that. So, on to the details of how I was even capable of doing so much. Honestly, I give it all to the Lord above because till this day, I still have no idea as to how I was functioning.
My previous positions consisted of a full time, a part time, and a prn (as needed) position. Somehow, I was able to manage getting through orientations of my part-time and prn positions. As some know, I mainly WFH (work from home) and was able to find positions that fit around my full-time position. My WFH was from 9am-6pm and the days I would go in to either my part-time or prn positions would be around 7pm-12am. Occasionally, I would work weekends. If I had an event or activity during the weekend, I would schedule around that time. But, since it was during the cold months, I didn’t mind working. I mean, I know I can’t be the only person that dislikes doing activities during the fall months. I rather stay home and stay cozy but why not make extra money in the meantime.
I know you’re wondering, how was I able to do 3 jobs while being a mom. I must say that even though my support system is small, it’s a great one. I have a system that helps in every way. I make sure that my child is bathed, feed, and ready for bed before heading out to work. Yes, it can be a lot but know you can do anything you set your mind to. Most importantly, when having so many tasks and a child, organization and communication will make situations easier and effective.
Here’s a breakdown of my day when working 3 jobs for the two days:
For example:
Monday:
7 am – wake up and get me and my daughter ready for the day (usually takes a while since my little one has specific preferences on what to wear to daycare) Yes, at 3!
8am-8:30am- Drop little one off at daycare
8:45am-8:50am- Back home to prepare myself for my workday and getting ready to log in
9am- Clock in and get to work (meetings, calls, check emails, etc.)
2pm-3pm: Lunch break (usually pick up little one during this time and get her a snack)
3-6pm: Finish up my work for the day and prepare dinner for me and little one in the process
6pm: Clock out and get my daughter bathed and fed
6:30pm: Leave out for my 2nd or 3rd job, depending on the day
7pm-12am: Work my shift and then head home to wash up
1am or 2pm: Usually in bed to get ready for the next day.
- Either way, this is my schedule while working my jobs during the week. Also, my daughter is either with her Gigi, her dad, or her uncle. Intermittently, I schedule with gaps in between my days of working two jobs.
If you want the honest truth on working 3 jobs, it is a lot. Oftentimes, I wonder how some individuals were able to prolong working multiple jobs for a long period of time. It really takes a toll on your body and mental health. I quickly learned that I need to work smarter, not harder. It was entirely too much stress on my body, with a limited amount of sleep.
As a reminder to anyone out there, you are capable of receiving more. You can still meet your goal without losing yourself. Additionally, remember that your health is wealth!
